A new chapter opens for the energy sector in Mali with the acquisition of the French company’s Malian operations, Total Energies Mali, by Coly Energy Mali, in partnership with Benin Petro SA.
A delegation from the group was received this Thursday by the Prime Minister, Major General Abdoulaye Maïga, to formalise this transition. The meeting was mainly aimed at introducing the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the group, René Hounsinou, to the Malian authorities.
A crucial point that was highlighted during the meeting between Maïgaand Hounisou Coly Energy’s commitment to retain all 1,109 employees of the former Total Energies entity, a decision welcomed by the Prime Minister as proof of the company’s social responsibility.
Maïga said the acquisition was part of the vision of the Malian president, General Assimi Goïta, aimed at preserving employment while ensuring economic continuity. An approach that strengthens confidence and opens the way to a promising dynamic for the Malian energy sector.
Also present in Benin and Ivory Coast, Coly Energy plans to consolidate its presence in the region by focusing on strategic partnerships and management adapted to local realities, an official of the company said. The future of this transition, however, remains dependent on the group’s ability to meet economic and social expectations in Mali.
