The chief of staff in the Sahel of the Islamic State in the Great Sahara (EIGS), Adamou Diallo, alias Oussama Diallo, was killed on Sunday, during violent fighting between the Malian army and armed movements in Ménaka, north-east of Mali.
This was announced Monday on social media network X (formerly Twitter) by Moussa AG Acharatoumane, member of Mali’s National Transitional Council and leader of the Movement for the Salvation of Azawad (MSA) “He was killed yesterday (Sunday) at the gates of Ménaka, in a region where he and his men are alleged to have committed atrocities since the start of the security crisis in the Sahel,” confirmed an MSA official in Bamako who requested anonymity.
Notorious Nigerien Islamist insurgent, Amadou Diallo is the coordinator of several attacks in Mali and Niger, including the Tongo Tongo ambush in Niger on October 4, 2017 where four American soldiers and five Nigerien soldiers were killed, as well as the attack against the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) in Indelimanane.
